The second #TradesTalk charity Tweetathon took place on October 1st and 2nd – 24 hours of Twitter mayhem and merriment to raise money for the Rainy Day Trust.
It was a hugely entertaining event which raised over £2,200 for a tremendous cause, with guest hosts taking over the TradesTalk Twitter account.
There were so many good bits, it’s difficult to choose a selection of highlights, so here are some of the post popular tweets – including some of the amazing STARS IN THE TRADES performances and discussions on everything from men’s health to trade shows.

MEN’S HEALTH
I think when you see people you know openly speaking about health on things like social media it gives people who maybe aren’t as confidence that push to talk to someone or open up about their issues wether it be a stranger or a friend #tradestalk #carlosdoestradestalk

A6) Twitter has been a revelation for me, truly met and made some amazing friends.Facebook is more of a minefield, there are some good local group forums for mental health.I’ve been open with my family/friends/Twitter. Next step for me may be local group to help my community.

SOCIAL MEDIA
Actually one platform we have not discussed is Google. I have had a couple of "FAKE" reviews recently, and I know other Sparks have too. It seems if you have a "Google Place" then you are totally open to random "Keyboard Warriors" leaving fake stuff on your location. Thoughts?

Whichever social media platform you look at and whatever you post / document / say / express, there will always be someone with a negative view or opinion and sometimes just someone wanting to be aggressive / argumentative / objectionable. Very sad really.

All social media is negative to mental health – the way it’s run has no need to be in our lives – internet has its uses and should be regulated for certain uses – Facebook is the worst but most platforms are abused and not regulated – we were much better People b4 social media

I get up 5 minutes before I’m meant to leave and it’s kinda like Wallace and Gromit, teeth, clothes, diary-keys-phone, kiss the girls and leave. Then get mad at myself why I didn’t get up half hour earlier and have breakfast #TradesTalk

Decommissioning the security on old hospital wards, alone, in the middle of the night. It was like something out of a zombie/horror movie, very eerie! #TradesTalk

Horns on cars are for emergencies, every other use results in having to wear a sandwich board saying "I'm really dumb" for the rest of your life.
