Q&A // Geberit Duofix

PHPI catches up with Sonia De Gioia, Sales Director (Showrooms) at Geberit, to discover more about the company’s Duofix solution.

Q. What applications has GeberitDuofix been designed for?
Geberit Duofix has been designed as a flexible installation system that supports a wide range of bathroom applications. While it’s most commonly used for wall-hung WCs, it can also be used for washbasins, bidets and urinals and more, making it a complete solution for modern bathroom design.

It’s suitable for both residential and commercial settings, from private homes through to hotels, healthcare and public washrooms. As it’s a modular system, installers can use it across multiple projects and applications with confidence, knowing they’re working with a consistent and reliable solution.

Q. What are the key features of the solution?
At the core of Duofix is a robust steel frame, designed for long-term durability once installed behind the wall. It’s combined with our integrated concealed cistern, which is factory-tested to ensure reliability and consistent performance.

We’ve focused on making the system as installer-friendly as possible, with adjustable height and depth, clearly marked fixing points and components that fit together easily. Acoustic performance is also a key consideration, helping to reduce noise transfer, which is particularly important in multi-occupancy buildings.

Duofix works seamlessly with a wide range of Geberit products, including our ceramics and flush plates, giving complete flexibility from both a design and installation perspective.

Q. Can Duofix be used with various wall constructions?
Yes, and that flexibility is one of the key strengths of the system. Duofix works easily with drywall and stud wall installations, but it can also be installed in front of solid walls or as part of a pre-wall construction.

This allows installers to adapt the system depending on the structure they’re working with and the overall bathroom layout. Whether it’s a full-height installation, part-height wall or something more bespoke, Duofix integrates easily without adding unnecessary complexity.

Q. What type of WCs can be used with the system?
Duofix is compatible with all standard wall-hung WCs that meet common fixing standards, which gives complete freedom when it comes to ceramic choice.

That includes our own ranges, such as Geberit Acanto WC and Geberit ONE WC, both of which feature our Geberit TurboFlush technology.

TurboFlush is designed to deliver a powerful, precise flush that cleans the pan thoroughly while keeping noise to a minimum. When combined with a Duofix frame and concealed cistern, it creates a high-performance, hygienic and very quiet WC solution.

Q. Are there any features that allow for simplified installation?
Making installation quicker and more straightforward is a big focus for us. Duofix frames come pre-assembled, which reduces time on site and helps installers work more efficiently.

We’ve included features like adjustable feet, clear fixing points and simple alignment options so the frame can be positioned quickly and accurately. The system is designed to minimise the need for complex adjustments, helping reduce the risk of errors or rework.

When paired with products like our pre-mounted installation elements and fixing systems, installers can complete jobs faster, with more predictable results.

Q. Water saving is an increasing concern for many. Can Geberit Duofix help with this?
Yes, water efficiency is built into the system. Our concealed cisterns feature dual-flush technology as standard, allowing users to select between a reduced and full flush.

This can significantly reduce water consumption compared to older systems. We also offer adjustable flush volumes, so installations can be tailored to meet local regulations or project-specific requirements.

When combined with efficient flushing technologies like TurboFlush, it ensures that you’re not compromising on performance while still reducing water usage.

Q. Can Duofix be used for other bathroom elements?
Yes, Duofix is designed as a complete installation system. In addition to WCs, it can be used for washbasins, urinals, bidets and more, making it ideal for both residential and commercial projects.

This allows installers to use a single system across multiple elements within the same bathroom, simplifying both specification and installation. It also ensures a consistent level of quality and reliability throughout the entire space.

Q. Can a variety of flush plates be used when installing a WC using Geberit Duofix?
Yes, we offer a wide range of flush plates that are fully compatible with Duofix, giving flexibility in both design and functionality.

Our Geberit Sigma flush plates, Geberit Omega flush plates and Geberit Alpha flush plates ranges include everything from simple mechanical designs through to more premium finishes and touch-free options.

This allows installers and designers to tailor the final look of the bathroom, while also meeting specific user needs such as improved hygiene or accessibility.
