PHPI speaks to Joseph Chapman, Design Engineer at Worcester Bosch, about the Greenstar 8000+ boiler range and discovers how the company has integrated a number of installer-friendly features into the solution.
Q. The Greenstar 8000 Lifestyle launched in 2019, with the updated 8000+ introduced in late 2024. How has the market taken to the new solution across the past 18 months?
Since its launch the 8000 has been established as an industry-leading product across performance, reliability and style. 8000+ has built-on the best of the 8000 range and solidified itself as one of the best heating products that money can buy, championed by installers.
One of the best parts of working at Worcester Bosch is seeing the fantastic 8000+ installations by our installers shared on social media, their van liveries with 8000+ detailing and seeing our merchant partners proudly using the 8000+ image as a benchmark for the industry.
Q. What are the key features of the Greenstar 8000+ solution?
The most popular 8000+ combi models have increased from 30kW and 35kW to 32kW and 36kW. The home will now benefit from increased hot water flow rates, as well as more powerful central heating.
8000+ comes with improved display across the range – full colour display with backlit touch buttons and new black bezel.
New products also now have the ability to perform under low pressure use cases compared to the 8000 Life and Style.
The 8000+ continues to use the robust C5 heat exchanger, continuing a rich legacy loved by installers, with a substantial 10l expansion matching the powerful heating delivery.
The 8000+ comes with Worcester Bosch’s latest control unit, software features & touch screen, allowing the installer easy customisable setup and handy real-time performance data.
A full complement of modern Worcester Bosch controls are compatible, which can be both wired and wirelessly connected. This includes weather-compensated operation to enhance home efficiency, balancing a need for a lower radiator temperature in the warmer months.
Alongside the popular keyless filling system – with the blue lever – fitted as standard, there is also an intelligent filling system which can keep the pressure in the system topped up automatically.
Q. What applications is the Greenstar 8000+ most suited to?
The 8000+ delivers premium hot water performance for busy homes and powerful central heating to cover any home’s heating needs all year around. Providing ultimate peace of mind, even in the largest of family homes.
You can purchase 8000+ boilers in combi, system and regular models, all available in natural gas and LPG.
We also have a 2025 released 8000 F floor-standing range, using the best of 8000+ design and ethos.
Q. What outputs and performance levels does the range cover?
For hot water, the range covers up to 20l/m with the 50kW – enough for a bath and shower simultaneously –our popular 32kW providing 13.7l/m – enough for two showers at the same time (based on a 35°C rise and based on the National Home Building Council’s 2026 ‘Technical Standard’ for flow rates.)
Combi and System 8000+ boilers can cater up to 33.7kW central heating and regular models can even deliver up to 47.8kW.
All 8000+ products are also A-rated for efficiency of hot water and central heating across the range – with 94% central heating efficiency.
Q. Are there any features that allow for simplified installation?
8000+ boilers are supplied with our popular pre-plumbing jigs, allowing ‘Simple Switch’ water, gas and flue connections to the older CDI Classic products and original 8000 – saving the installer time lining up connections.
Green touchpoints, like for our front-mounting condensate siphon, and removable side panels are also great benefits for easing the installation experience.
The products are compatible with our easy plug-and-play wireless controls like the Comfort+ II RF.
Integrated keyless filling link is supplied factory fitted to the combi models as standard, allowing simple pressurisation of the system.
The Regular boilers also come with pre-made rear flow and return pipes.
The combined condensate and heating circuit drain-off is a handy feature for both installation and servicing – meaning there’s no need to connect a drain-off hose.
Q. When first launched a black front cover was an option within the range. Is this still the case?
Yes. Our reinforced steel front cover with high gloss black finish is available on the 8000+ Style Combi boilers, both 32kW and 36kW.
There are also our complimentary silver flue options available.
Q. What guarantee is available with the Greenstar 8000+?
The customer can receive up to 12 years guarantee* and peace of mind when they install an 8000+ product and eight years as standard.
With a Worcester Bosch guarantee, you’re covered for any parts, labour, and call-out fees – should anything go wrong. In the unlikely event that something goes wrong whilst it’s still in guarantee, we’ll come out, fix it, or replace any faulty parts – at no cost to the customer.
* When installed by a Worcester Bosch Accredited Installer with a Greenstar System Filter + £40 payment.
