With plumbers and heating engineers often having to reach into tight spaces, the KNIPEX Long Reach Needle Nose Pliers (28 71 280) and (28 81 280) have been engineered specifically to maintain grip or control in restricted areas.
Both pliers share the same slim, elongated head and jaw design that lets installers work in situations where cladding or metal plates would otherwise need to be removed first to gain access. The company says the extra reach comes into its own on repair work, first and second fix installation and plant room jobs, wherever space is too tight for conventional pliers.
The gripping jaws combine several profiles in one tool. Milled, smooth-surfaced grooves at the half-round tips hold and guide sensitive round components, like small-bore copper pipe, plastic screw joints and cable, securely and without damaging the surface. Further back on the jaw, a serrated pipe grip is on hand for tougher, less delicate parts that need to be gripped firmly and turned with more force.
The two versions differ only in the geometry of the jaw tip. The 28 71 280 has a straight, ridged profile suited to general reach-in gripping work. The 28 81 280 takes this a step further with a 45° angled tip, giving installers extra freedom of movement when working off-axis or at awkward angles, plus a flat, serrated gripping area at the very front of the jaws for securely holding small, thin parts.
