Updated heat loss calculator and radiator sizing software available from Stelrad

Stelrad has updated its heat loss calculator and radiator sizing software package. There are improvements to both the Basic Heat Loss Calculator and the Advanced version incorporating the latest recommended room temperatures and air changes from NHBC Standards 2024 Ch.8.3. and associated T&Cs that include the latest CIBSE u-values used.

An additional step has been inserted for the user to choose between electric and conventional heating with a revised calculation algorithm to accommodate this change. The company says the new version incorporates improved styling for a better match with colours layout and typography and improved compatibility with modern browsers.

The new version also adds a feature whereby the user can choose between hot water or electrical heating and display products accordingly.

“With the increasing number of low temperature renewable heating systems out there, sizing radiators and calculating heat loss calculations has never been more important,” says Sarah Baker, Marketing Communications Manager at Stelrad. “For this reason, we have decided to upgrade our heat loss calculators – all versions – so that installers, specifiers and homeowners alike can get to grips with this important part of the specification of heating systems. Even with better levels of insulation in homes, lower temperature heating systems will need larger radiators to ensure the levels of comfort heating needed to keep today’s homes warm and comfortable for the homeowners and their families and tenants. It’s essential that our guides to helping people to select the right radiators for each room are up to date and give people the best chance to get the radiator sizing calculations correct.”
