To bring more choice to its product portfolio, ESi Controls has upgraded its most popular product, the ESRTP4RF+ programmable room thermostat, and developed the ESRTP4RFW. The new version is WiFi compatible when combined with the ESi WiFi Hub (ESWIFIHUB). Both versions – the new ESRTP4RFW and the original ESRTP4RF+ remain available, offering choice and versatility for installers and homeowners.
Ryan Green, National Sales Manager, explains: “After listening to installer feedback and analysing our products, we’ve made the decision to take our best-selling product, which is a first choice with many installers, and offer another version that is in keeping with modern technology and householders’ expectations.
“Our technical team have done a great job of updating the technology inside the control. They’ve added a Wi-fi chip that allows the upgraded model to work with our Wi-Fi Hub (sold separately) so that it can be operated remotely.”
Another upgraded element is the Slider bar, which has been replaced with buttons. Ryan explained: “We have taken the opportunity to upgrade the original slider bar to buttons for operating the thermostat’s functions. This is as a result of feedback that the slider bar was a bit dated and could occasionally be a bit difficult for some users, particularly those with limited eyesight, to see which mode they were in. The buttons, with bigger labels on them, provide better useability for those people.”
Among the features retained is the back plate, designed to provide ease of installation. Ryan continued: “We have kept the original ‘industry standard’ back plate because installers often comment on the benefit this provides during installations. The feedback we’ve received suggests that installers prefer the backplate because it is very forgiving in terms of size and space, making it easy to fit.”
Ryan added: “It was a bold move, taking our best known and most popular product and upgrading it; now the aesthetics are better and the control is easier to use, and the feedback we have received since we launched it at the Installer Show has been extremely positive.”
The ESRTP4RFW is compatible with gas, electric, oil and LPG boilers. It gives the option of choosing 24-hour, seven-day or five/two-day programming and either four or six daily temperature options. It comes with a standard three-year warranty.
To coincide with the launch of the new control, the ESi app is having an aesthetic upgrade. The company is continuing to offer the option for the thermostat front cover to be laser-engraved, free of charge, with the installer’s logo and business details.
