Westco has donated over £1,200 to the Children’s Burns Trust. The contribution resulted from a commitment by Westco to give a percentage of the profits for every Safeguard Thermostatic Mixing Valve (TMV) sold to the charity.
The Children’s Burns Trust works with NHS professionals and families across the UK to help fund rehabilitation and support for children living with burns. In addition, the charity also undertakes awareness-raising campaigns to reduce the number of burns and scalds experienced by children across the UK. It also supports three family therapy weekends, and (in association with the Fire Fighting Charity), sponsors children to attend summer burns camps and an annual Jamboree in Cambridgeshire. The children who participate in these events not only grow in confidence, but also forge long-term friendships with other burns survivors from different parts of the county.
The charity has thanked Westco for its support, which will go towards purchasing much-needed rehabilitation and play equipment for paediatric burns units, provide direct support to children and their immediate families post-burn, and help the charity to deliver on its “Hot Water Burns like Fire” prevention messages.
Commenting on Westco’s donation, Children’s Burns Trust Operations Director Alison Tweddle said: “In this increasingly difficult economic climate, we are only able to continue the work we do as a direct result of the kind generosity shown by our supporters. We are very grateful to Westco for the donation and continued support.”
Designed to regulate the temperature of hot water, TMVs blend hot and cold water to ensure it’s supplied at a safe heat. At the same time, water can be stored at a higher temperature so that it kills the Legionella bacteria. Westco’s Safeguard TMV is approved for use in both TMV 2 and TMV 3 environments and can help prevent accidents amongst vulnerable people such as young children and the elderly.
Westco Managing Director Nick Horton said: “At Westco we’re passionate about helping plumbers and installers to use the safest, most energy efficient products available, so it’s vital that we promote the importance of safety through the use of appropriate products. By supporting the Children’s Burns Trust, we’re not only raising funds for child burn victims, but also highlighting the importance of using the right TMVs and hopefully preventing accidents from happening in the first place. We’d like to pass on our thanks to our customers who have bought a Safeguard TMV and helped us to support this vital work.”
