Grant Gundelfinger takes top spot at the Heating Installer Awards 2021

Following hundreds of entries, a judging day where a panel of industry experts shortlisted the entries, a peer-reviewed technical challenge and a record number of public votes, the winners of the Heating Installer Awards 2021 have been announced.

Grant Gundelfinger, of Mayfly Group Ltd, fought off strong competition to be crowned as the national Heating Installer 2021. Grant impressed the judges and the public with his high level of technicality, outstanding professionalism and commitment to the industry and his customers.

This is the third year Grant has excelled at the awards.  He won the Yorkshire regional title in both 2019 and 2020 and was national runner up in 2019.

Paul Clark of Concept Plumbing and Heating, from Hoylake on the Wirral, claimed the runner-up spot.

Grant said: “It’s the third year that I’ve been recognised as the best Heating Installer in Yorkshire, and I’m so proud to have won the overall national award. To be honoured by your peers as well as some of the biggest names in the industry is incredibly gratifying and I am so thankful for this recognition. I have seen how winning the award has boosted previous winner’s careers, and I cannot wait to see what is in store for the future. It’s even better that my family was here to see this too.”

Carl Ladd from Leamington Spa scooped the Rising Star award which recognises the industry’s budding apprentices.  Carl, who started his plumbing career after severely crushing his hand in an accident, impressed the judges with his level of commitment and desire to achieve high standards. Although he’s still training, Carl has also set up the Apprentice Foundation which aims to connect full-time learners with employers looking to take on apprentices.

Last but by no means least, the Most Sustainable Installer Award, which recognises those who are doing everything they can to minimise the impact of their work on the environment, went to Benjamin Lee from B LEE Plumbing and Heating in Salcombe, Devon. Benjamin impressed the judges with his commitment to providing sustainable products, processes and solutions to his customers.

Now in its sixth year, the Heating Installer Awards celebrates the achievements and the credibility of plumbers and heating installers who deliver an excellent quality of work and customer service on a daily basis and showcases the superstars of the industry.

Grant can now enjoy prizes from awards partners, including a trip to Denmark to Danfoss’ headquarters, a top-of-the-range LG TV and a large amount of product from Armacell and Polypipe.

The judges commented that the quality of this year’s entries from across the UK was exceptional and included an increasingly outstanding quality of projects.
