Daikin supplies Heat Pumps to £2.3m Green Technology Centre

Daikin UK has supplied air source heat pump technology to the newly opened Advanced Green Technology Centre at Stoke-on-Trent College’s Burslem Campus, in the 46th installation of Daikin equipment delivered through its ongoing partnership with renewable training specialist Quantum Group.

The £2.3 million centre, which opened in May 2026 with the support of Government funding channelled through Stoke-on-Trent City Council, features industry-standard facilities including heat pump technology, solar PV systems, electric vehicle charging training bays, and wall insulation training. It is designed to equip learners in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire with the technical skills needed to build and maintain the low-carbon built environment.

Rachel McCrystal, Social Impact and Sustainability Manager at Daikin UK, commented: “Delivering Net Zero is not just an environmental challenge; it’s a skills, economics and social challenge. The Advanced Green Technology Centre demonstrates what can be achieved when industry, education and local government work together towards a shared goal.

“By supporting facilities like this, we are helping to create pathways into meaningful employment, equipping learners with future-ready skills and ensuring communities can benefit from the opportunities created by the low-carbon transition. We wlook forward to continuing our work with Quantum to inspire the next generation of renewable heating engineers.”

Maria Gonella, CEO of Quantum Group, commented: “Addressing the green skills gap is one of the most important challenges facing the UK right now, and it requires a collective effort from everyone involved, including government, industry, colleges, and training providers. Our partnership with Daikin allows us to put the industry’s leading heat pump technology directly into the hands of students across the country, and we are delighted to see that momentum continue in Stoke-on-Trent.”
