J S Wright has announced its apprentice Liam Walsh has won the Plumbing Apprentice of the Year Award after recently completing his training.
Liam, who works out of the London office of the Birmingham-based firm, won the award for the East of England and London run by JTL.
One of 1,665 apprentices who were in the final year of training with JT, Liam is now in the running for the title of JTL Apprentice of the Year.
Having completed his Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Domestic Plumbing and Heating with the provider, Liam is now working as a plumber on site at Barratt London’s Nine Elms Point development where J S Wright is fitting out 645 homes within seven metallic buildings including a 37-storey tower.
Liam received his award after a rigorous selection process which looked at his practical and theoretical knowledge as well as feedback from workplace mentors, college tutors and JTL’s regional training officers.
Matt Pearson, JTL Regional Training Officer, said: “Liam should be immensely proud of his achievement. Winning his regional event from among a very talented group of youngsters and gaining a place at our national final is no mean feat and testament to his commitment and dedication.”
JTL is a national training provider that offers local support to apprentices and their employers through a team of over 130 specialist training officers. Around 35,000 young people have completed JTL apprenticeships over the past 28 years and more than 6,000 are currently training with the provider.
