Ideal Standard tees up pro golf sponsorship

Ideal Standard has announced that the company will be teeing-up with leading English professional golfer, Melissa Reid, as one of her official sponsors.

The bathroom brand’s famous logo will feature on Melissa’s playing apparel at 23 tournaments across 16 different countries throughout the current Ladies European Tour – most recently during the Women’s British Open at Turnberry, which featured the world’s best players, with Melissa turning in an impressive ninth placed finish.

Her recent good form has also seen Melissa clinch a place in Europe’s team for the 2015 Solheim Cup –often referred to as the Ladies’ equivalent of the Ryder Cup – which is the largest and most prestigious event in Ladies golf.

Melissa, who is aged 27 and originally from the East Midlands area, not far from Ideal Standard’s factory in Armitage, turned professional in 2007 and has been a member of the Ladies European Tour (LET) since 2008.

Her rise to fame sees her currently ranked Number One on the 2015 LET money list – and she was named ‘Sportswoman of the Month’ for May by Sky Sports following her Turkish Ladies Open win earlier this year, her fifth Ladies European Tour title.

Melissa Reid said: “Women’ s sport is making great progress in terms of awareness and profile and it has been great to be a part of the increased coverage over a summer of sport which has also included the Woman’s football World Cup, and the Woman’s Ashes Cricket.

“The support of the sponsors is really important and I am personally really pleased to partner with and wear the logo of an iconic British brand such as Ideal Standard when competing.

“From a personal point of view, I’m really happy with my form and looking forward to the Solheim Cup and joining the team in Germany in September.”

Anna Burns, Marketing Director at Ideal Standard, said: “We are delighted to support Mel, a rising British professional female sports star, and the exposure our brand will achieve as a result is certainly unique in our industry. We’re wishing Mel well for her appearance in Germany – and will be backing her all the way!”

Melissa will feature on Sky Sports from 18-20 September, when the best female golfers from Europe and the U.S. will compete against one other for the coveted Solheim Cup trophy at St. Leon-Rot Golf Club.
