Low water pressure remains an issue for many homes across the UK, with affected homeowners and residents facing uncomfortable showers and trickling taps. Water booster pumps can provide a solution and Grundfos has recently introduced its new solution, SCALA2.
The new pump is a fully integrated all-in-one water booster system. It contains pump, motor, tank, sensor, drive, and non-return valve in one unit. With an ability to adjust performance to the operating conditions, SCALA2 has been designed to, “make it easier for installers to meet their customers’ needs.”
Featuring an intelligent pump control, SCALA2 offers what the company describes as, “perfect water pressure”, regardless of varying inlet pressure and multiple open taps. Installers can choose the setpoint that fits a customer’s home and water usage, and they will get this water pressure regardless of the inlet pressure to the home.
Less noise
Water booster pumps can be noisy and can take up a lot of space. This can be very inconvenient for homeowners, especially if the pump is installed inside the house. SCALA2 tackles this issue head-on. Compared to the previous model the new generation SCALA2 features a 3 dB(A) reduction in sound pressure, which is perceived as a 50% reduction in noise by the human ear.
“SCALA2 is water-cooled and equipped with a super-silent motor, which results in a sound level of 44 dB(A) in typical use. This makes it one of the most silent water booster pumps in its class,” explained Dusan Savic, Global Product Manager – Boosting.
SCALA2 has been designed for residential buildings with up to three floors and eight taps. It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor installation and has frost protection, protecting the pump from freezing, and an anti-cycling feature to protect against leakages in installation. Fully integrated with pump, motor, tank, sensor, drive, and non-return valve in one compact unit, SCALA2 is described by the company as a ‘plug-and-pump’ solution.
Grundfos says that by selecting this efficient pressure booster over conventional booster pumps homeowners can reduce their energy consumption for water pressure boosting by as much as 40%.
