Mission Pink for Gas App Uk

Mission Pink for Gas App Uk

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK accounting for almost 1,000 deaths each month but, thanks to research funded by charities like Breast Cancer Now, the UK’s largest breast cancer charity, more and more people are surviving. Breast Cancer Now is on a mission to ensure that, by 2050, everyone who gets breast cancer will live, which means funding the most impactful research is key. Well the intrepid men from Gas App Uk, supported by an equally intrepid Intergas managing director and sales manager, are on a mission too. This September, the 28th, to be precise, they are planning to raise £10,000 to help fund more research for Breast Cancer Now by walking up Ben Nevis… while carrying two Intergas HRE combi compact boilers, painted a delicate shade of pink, on their backs!

Founders of Gas App Uk, Antony Provan and Matthew Stonehouse, whose app, which is only six months old, has become a valuable resource for gas installers across the UK, wanted to mark their good fortune by giving something back. It was easy to decide on raising money to fight breast cancer as they and their Gas App UK colleague Tony Soper all knew someone who had had it.

Speaking about their decision, Antony said: “We hadn’t realised that almost 140 women are diagnosed with breast cancer every single day, and that’s shocking, but we know that not all of them will survive, which is even worse. If there’s anything we can do, no matter how small, to help Breast Cancer Now achieve its 2050 goal, we want to do it.” Their difficulty was in deciding what might make their fellow installers part with their money to help them fulfil Mission Pink. And so the idea of hauling a boiler up and down a mountainside was born. It helps that Matt is a seasoned hill walker, so he’s worked out the pre-climb training programme to ensure success on the day. Intergas is supplying the pink boilers as well as the Sherpas, namely managing director Stephen Zouch and sales manager Kevin Ansell. “We know it’s going to be an uphill struggle,” said Stephen. “But as far as Mission Pink is concerned, failure’s not an option!”
