City Plumbing to host football tournament to raise funds for Teenage Cancer Trust

City Plumbing is holding a charity five-a-side football tournament on Saturday 8th June at Goals Leicester. The merchant and its parent company, Highbourne Group, will field 16 teams in the tournament comprising colleagues, suppliers and the senior leadership team. The event, which will also include food, competitions and prizes, is to raise money for their charity partner, the Teenage Cancer Trust, and build on the £3 million raised by the merchant to date.

Doors open at 9am and the event is open to members of the public to watch the tournament and support, as well as participate in the various competitions and a raffle to raise much-needed funds for the charity.

There will be a silent auction on the day with lots including a signed Manchester United football and a voucher for four to play Tenby Golf course. There will also be a raffle where attendees can win prizes such as a £250 hotel break voucher, a Samsung projector worth more than £600 and a fifth generation Apple iPad. In total, there are more than 30 prizes to be won.

Raffle tickets cost £5 each or 3 for £10 and can be purchased through City Plumbing’s Just Giving page. To come along to cheer on the teams and watch the tournament, there is a suggested donation of £2 per adult, with children attending for free.

Kelsey Toon at City Plumbing, who has been the driving force behind the organising of the event, said: “We’re really looking forward to the tournament, it’s a fun and light-hearted way of raising valuable funds for a very important charity. To-date, Highbourne Group has raised more than £3m for the Teenage Cancer Trust and, with this event, we would like to add as much as we can to that amount for this incredible cause.

“For the teams entering the tournament alone, we’ve raised more than £1,000 already, and we’ve been inundated with donations of fabulous prizes for the raffle to help raise money. Anyone who would like to come along to show their support for the teams and the charity is more than welcome and we have some brilliant prizes on offer. Let’s just hope the weather is kind to us.”
