Elmhurst Energy has announced the launch of its free insurance cover which will be available for its members and now cover ‘verbal, non-binding’ energy efficiency advice.
Trained and qualified energy assessors who are accredited with a government approved accreditation scheme, would typically have to arrange Professional Indemnity (PI) and Public Liability (PL) insurance in order to cover the work they do as an energy assessor.
However, all Elmhurst Energy accredited members will now receive insurance free of charge when certificates are lodged with Elmhurst Energy and, in July 2018, the cover was increased to £10m.
Elmhurst will now also cover its members for ‘verbal, non-binding’ energy efficiency advice, which aims to explain to building owners the meaning of data and recommendations included in the energy certificate.
Martyn Reed, Managing Director of Elmhurst Energy, explained: “Our enhanced insurance offering means Elmhurst’s members are covered and so are their clients. It really does provide peace of mind for the assessor and reaffirms why building owners, from householders and estate agents to facilities managers, should be looking out and choosing from our 7,000 strong membership.”
