Schlüter-Systems explains how its full system of bathroom solutions can help to provide peace of mind for both customers and installers.
When it comes to delivering high-quality bathrooms, installers need systems that are practical, reliable and straightforward to fit. Schlüter-Systems offers a fully integrated range designed to work together, reducing guesswork on site and helping to avoid call-backs.
At the heart of any tiled bathroom is effective waterproofing. Schlüter’s KERDI membrane system offers a simple, bonded waterproofing solution that sits directly beneath the tiles, protecting the substrate from moisture damage.
Designed to be lightweight and easy to cut due to gridline markings, it can be applied quickly using tile adhesive. The addition of KERDI-BAND sealing strips and pre-formed corners makes detailing around junctions more straightforward. For installers, that means less on-site confusion and more confidence that the job is watertight.
Drainage options
Drainage is another area where system compatibility really matters. KERDI-DRAIN point drains and KERDI-LINE linear drains have been engineered to integrate directly with the waterproofing membrane. This eliminates the need to marry up components from different manufacturers and reduces the risk of weak spots at critical junctions.
Tile backerboard
Preparation work can often eat into installation time, but Schlüter’s KERDI-BOARD has been designed to help streamline the process. The lightweight tile backerboard is easy to handle and can be cut with a knife, making it suited for tight spaces and retrofit projects. Once installed, it forms part of the waterproof assembly, cutting down on additional layers and helping keep the installation efficient.
Uncoupling membrane
Beyond the core waterproofing and drainage elements, Schlüter also offers solutions that add value without complicating installation. DITRA-PS and DITRA-HEAT-PS (Peel & Stick) have been designed with the installer in mind, combining uncoupling, crack bridging and, in the case of DITRA-HEAT-PS, integrated electric heating in one easy-to-use Peel & Stick system.
The pressure-sensitive adhesive backing means the mat can be fixed directly to a clean, flat substrate without spreading tile adhesive first, reducing installation time and on-site mess.
With DITRA-HEAT-PS, the heating cable slots neatly into the membrane studs, designed for correct spacing and easy positioning, while the mat’s low profile keeps floor build-up minimal. Once installed and tested, tiles can be laid directly over the mat, giving installers a reliable, efficient system that protects the tile covering, and, where heat is included, delivers responsive, evenly distributed warmth.
For heating and plumbing professionals, the real advantage lies in installing a complete system. Compatibility between components, clear technical guidance and a structured approach to bathroom construction all contribute to smoother installations.
