JG Speedfit in pole position for British Superbike Championship

As part of its commitment to the MCE British Superbike Championship, JG Speedfit is taking its Kawasaki team to Donington Park this weekend as it goes for glory in the opening round of the tournament.

The manufacturer has long supported the British Superbike Championship and was named sponsor of Bournemouth Kawasaki Racing late last year. The opening weekend will see Leon Haslam and Luke Mossey, of the JG Speedfit Kawasaki team, looking to build on the success of pre-season, having broken lap records in Guadix and Cartagena respectively.

The team will be riding Ninja ZX-10R bikes, using an Öhlins suspension for the first time, a change from the suspension used previously. It has also changed some of the engine specification and gearbox ratios, having fitted new swinging arms to try and prolong the life of the tyres on the bikes. Although the bikes are set up and ready for the first two rounds, the team is still awaiting new engines and additional parts from Kawasaki to help it make further improvements to the performance of the bikes, in an effort to secure the championship title.

As the opening weekend beckons, Mike Riseley, Sales Director at JG Speedfit, said the team is anticipating a great start to the superbike campaign. He commented: “It’s great to be associated with Bournemouth Kawasaki Racing and with a successful pre-season under their belt, the team is all set for a very successful season on the track. JG Speedfit has supported the British Superbike Championship for many years as we recognise this is a popular sport throughout the plumbing community. With a great team in place, and improvements already made to the bikes, this could well be the year for the JG Speedfit Kawasaki team.”

Team Manager Jack Valentine, who is new to the JG Speedfit Kawasaki Team, also commented: “Pre-season testing in Spain was excellent and we’re hoping to carry on in the same vein. Although bad weather conditions during the official test in Donington meant we couldn’t learn much by going out on the track, we were still able to do some work on the electronics so we are feeling optimistic heading into round one.

“We have a really strong team and expectations are high. Leon wants to win a championship and Luke is keen to secure a place on the Showdown. Already we are thinking about podium points for round one, which will prove vital when we get to the Showdown after round nine.”

Plumbers and installers still have the opportunity to win British Superbike Championship tickets by taking JG Speedfit’s ‘Flex Your Pex’ challenge. Winners are being announced every fortnight, so head over to www.speedfit-tech.co.uk to find out how to enter.
