The former owner of one of the UK’s leading plumbing and drainage companies has launched a new career as a golfing author.
It was only a year ago that Freddie Mitman (84) sold the highly successful Peterborough-based Drain Doctor company that he and his wife Jan built from scratch. Now he is able to indulge his passion for golf, not just playing it but writing about it.
His first book – “Golf – The Rhyme and Reason” – looks light-heartedly at golf and golfers. It includes stories, verses and cartoons illustrating many aspects of the game. Most golfers will be able to recognise, relive and smile at many of their own golfing experiences.
Freddie said: “Whenever I was able to get away from the plumbing and drainage business I enjoyed playing golf. I’ve had some great rounds and some dreadful ones – and many funny experiences associated with the game.
“I hope the book will be picked up by golfers – but also by their friends and families who might learn a little about what enthuses golfers or maybe buy it as a present for the golfers in the family.”
