The Association of Plumbing & Heating Contractors (APHC) has launched a new information resource to offer consumer advice to homeowners on everything to do with heating, bathrooms, plumbing and renewable technologies.
The blog will be another tool for the leading sector body to stay in touch with consumers by sharing tips and advice at aphclatest.blogspot.co.uk.
Despite plumbing and heating being essential to our daily lives, we tend to forget about it until something goes wrong, but controlling how we use our water and resources to heat our homes saves consumers money on running costs and having to fix faulty appliances.
The blog will be offering light-hearted advice on a wide range of topics, such as how to keep cool in summer, ways to conserve water, top tips to avoid a cowboy plumber and new trends in bathroom design, as well as more serious topics covering gas safety and spotting the signs of carbon monoxide poisoning. APHC is also encouraging the homeowners and landlords to ask questions and interact with its team of experts.
John Thompson, Chief Executive of APHC, explained: “We really want the public to take advantage of these bite-sized information posts. They are intended to be a more relaxed look at the world of plumbing from the consumer’s perspective rather than the more technical and mechanical approach we take with members.”
In addition to the blog, APHC also provides householders and landlords with advice via Facebook and updates on Twitter.
To find a local qualified and reputable heating engineer, consumers can use the APHC’s search facility at www.FindAQualityPlumber.co.uk. The online database allows consumers to search via a number of criteria including postcode, town or by specific business name if already known. The results are displayed to clearly show each supplier’s full contact and website details, map location and areas of specialism, such as heating systems, renewables, hot water, plumbing and electrical.
APHC has also released a series of free, impartial consumer guides to educate and provide background information on a host of plumbing and heating topics on its website. The guides range from advice on how to select and employ the right installer, preparing for cold weather, dealing with emergencies and guides to conventional heating systems. In addition, new technologies are also demystified with information on solar thermal hot water and biomass boilers.
