Eco-friendly companies collaborate to build dream home

A couple from Peebles, Scotland, have had their dream of an eco-friendly bungalow with access for a wheel chair user turned into a reality.

Mr and Mrs Lamb had a very specific set of requirements when they approached Eskgrove Homes for a new home. Mr Lamb suffers from degenerating illness so they were looking for a bungalow that could be wheelchair friendly. The thought of an eco-friendly home was also very appealing to them, and they were impressed with Eskgrove homes whose strapline is warmer, quieter, cleaner, greener.

Colin Cumberland, Managing Director of Eskgrove Homes, was happy to accommodate the Lambs and worked closely with Ecoliving Limited, a renewable heating provider, to make their new bungalow as eco-friendly as possible.

“It’s very rewarding to work with Eskgrove homes, which has the same vision about low energy homes and buildings”, explained Mark Henderson, Co-Founder of Ecoliving. “This is very much aligned to Ecoliving’s approach of helping to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy systems“.

An Ecodan Air Source Heat Pump was installed to deliver underfloor heating to the house as well as all the hot water the couple need. The Ecodan takes heat from the outside air and upgrades it to deliver effective, low carbon heating and hot water in the home.

“Colin Cumberland was very accommodating and the underfloor heating makes it wonderful to walk around the house with no shoes, which is important with my disability,” added Mr Lamb.

Mr and Mrs Lamb have also been delighted with the cost of electricity in their bungalow. They can now pay as little as £15 a month to Scottish.
