Bond It has once again lent its support to a fundraising initiative staged by The Lighthouse Club.
The Lighthouse Club’s John O’Groats to Land’s End Run is a biennial road rally which sees participants raising sponsorship by driving from one end of the country to the other.
The event is about careful planning and good navigational skills as opposed to speed. Drivers are expected to complete the journey by passing through a series of nationwide checkpoints and without using modern aids like Sat Navs.
Formed in 1956, The Lighthouse Club – which celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2016 – delivers charitable welfare and support to construction industry workers and their families. It takes its name from St Mary’s Lighthouse in Whitley Bay where it was originally formed, and to date has delivered £14M in aid and assistance to those in need.
The 2016 John O’Groats to Land’s End run was sponsored by the CPA (Construction Plant Hire Association) with drivers also attracting their own individual sponsors.
Bond It backed two of these drivers – Will Linday and Steve Bulless. Will, a semi-retired Builder, and Steve, a Sales and Marketing Consultant who works with companies in the building and construction sectors, took part in a 12-year-old Fiat Punto.
They entered under the name ‘Team GB PRO’ – a reference to Bond It’s advanced hybrid sealant and adhesive and an acknowledgement of the company’s support.
Speaking of Bond It’s sponsorship, Kirstie Cooper, Marketing Manager at the company, said: “As a business, Bond It has a strong sense of corporate social responsibility and continues to back a number of industry, local and national charities. Sponsoring Will and Steve for The Lighthouse Club Run was a natural extension of that commitment.”
Dave Adams, Event Organiser at The Lighthouse Club, added: “The Lighthouse Club Run was a great event and everyone who took part thoroughly enjoyed themselves not least because of camaraderie involved.
“We’d like to say a huge thank you to all the teams and sponsors. The money raised will contribute towards our important work in supporting construction industry workers and their families during times of financial difficulty, injury or ill health.”
