Watts introduces pre-insulated piping solution for Heat Pump installations

Available from Watts is a complete, pre-insulated piping solution designed to simplify connections between external heat pumps and buildings.

Purpose-built for heat pump applications, including air-to-water monobloc systems, Microflex HP combines heating and cooling flow and return pipes with dedicated conduits for mains and control cables, within a single protective outer casing.

The company says it has been created to make heat pump installations faster, neater and easier to manage on site, noting that “its lightweight, highly flexible construction makes the pipe easy to handle and route around corners and obstacles, while compatible accessories can be installed without special tools.”

Marthijn Van Tent, Sales Leader Northern Europe Watts Industries UK said: “Microflex HP has been developed to make one of the key stages of a heat pump installation simpler for installers. By bringing heating, power and control into one flexible, integrated solution, it reduces the number of separate services that need to be routed between the heat pump and the property.

“Its flexibility makes it easier to work with real-world installation routes, while the pre-insulated construction helps minimise heat losses between the heat pump and the building. For both new-build and retrofit projects, it provides installers with a practical, robust solution designed specifically around the requirements of modern heat pump systems.”

Microflex HP incorporates two PE-Xa heating and cooling pipes with an oxygen diffusion barrier alongside two conduits for power and network cables. Closed-cell PE-X foam insulation around the carrier pipes helps minimise heat loss and has minimal water absorption. A UV-resistant PE-HD double-wall outer casing protects the pipes and insulation from external impacts. The company says its closed-chamber construction also helps prevent water ingress should the outer surface become damaged.
