Uponor launches new press fittings range

Uponor is partnering with expert industry ambassadors to launch its latest line of press fittings.

A reinvention of Uponor’s renowned S-Press range, S-Press PLUS has hugely improved flow characteristics, reduces installation time by up to 25%, has increased durability and is technologically adapted, delivering a ‘smart’ experience for installers.

To gain real-time insight into how S-Press PLUS will impact the market, Uponor is teaming with industry experts, delivering an exclusive training programme at its modern Watford facility, giving them first access to the new range.

A press indicator foil clearly identifies correctly pressed connections and with a specially designed pressing sleeve, installers will find it virtually impossible to press the fitting with the jaws in the wrong position. Fittings, which are available in 16 to 32mm, are also colour coded meaning that even in dark and difficult conditions, such as on-site, installers are able to easily pick the correct size fitting.

Requiring no bevelling or calibration, S-Press PLUS is capable of reducing installation times by up to 25 per cent when compared to traditional radial press fittings. Furthermore, each fitting comes with a QR code, enabling installers to scan on a smartphone for 24/7 technical installation support, access to individual project databases and online ordering.

Paul Hull, Managing Director at The Commercia Group, was the first to undertake S-Press PLUS training at Uponor’s Headquarters. He said of the event: “The training was great, it was really interesting to see the system and the new developments. The new style of fittings were especially interesting to see. The use of colour coding and numbers makes the system easy to use which will really appeal to installers. Overall the day was brilliant, it was informative and Uponor team was fantastic.”

Made of superior materials, including dezincification resistant brass and high-grade stainless steel, S-Press PLUS is even more capable of dealing with aggressive water conditions and harsh installation environments. Its innovative brass alloy body provides protection against stress fracturing, safeguarding the system against potential leaks and improving overall system integrity.

With water hygiene a key consideration, S-Press PLUS has been designed to provide the best protection when used in the harshest of drinking water installations. S-Press PLUS has been rigorously tested to demanding standards by approved facilities all over the world and has been approved for use in hygienic water installations by numerous approval bodies such as WRAS and DVGW.

Dave Lancaster, Application Manager at Uponor, said: “With 25 years of real-life experience and more than 500 million fittings installed across the globe, we had reached a point when it was time to reinvent the press fitting system for composite pipes. We have worked hard with our R&D teams to develop S-Press PLUS, making it easier than ever to install and removing any possibility of incorrect installation to ensure the security of the system for decades to come.

“It was great to have Paul visit our HQ to have an exclusive first-look at S-Press PLUS and try the product out. We work with experts within the industry to ensure all of our products are not just fit for market, but exceed the day-to-day requirements of installers to ensure the products we release to market meet demand. We are looking forward to seeing the reaction from the wider installer community.”
