Danfoss has introduced a new and improved range of energy-saving Electronic Room Controls (ERC) – the first to be co-created with installers to make their life easier. From its industry-standard backplate to the multiple cable access design and intuitive display wrapped in a full white exterior, the new ERC collection is designed for ultimate ease – from selection and installation to programming and everyday use. On top of all that, Danfoss has extended the warranty on the new range from two to five years and all models are 100% Boiler Plus compliant.
Danfoss listened to installers and used their feedback to develop an ERC range that is fast and hassle-free to fit and even more user-friendly, says Gareth Ash, Marketing Communications Manager at Danfoss: “We’ve involved installers in every step of the design phase. We believe this approach shows the importance Danfoss places on continuous dialogue with customers so we can reflect their needs in our products.”
With an ERC to suit all applications, Danfoss has streamlined the range to make choosing the right product for the job quicker and easier for installers. Models now include the TS710 and FP720 time switch and programmer respectively; the TP5001 range of programmable room thermostats; the RET2001 digital room thermostat range; and the RET1001M dial room thermostat.
The new Danfoss ERCs have a new industry-standard backplate featuring a multi-cable access design which allows side, top, bottom and rear access, making them much simpler to install. Depending on the model, other modifications include a new +1 hour booster button and indicator lights under each channel. Also, the old CH (Channel) button, sometimes wrongly identified by end-users as Central Heating, has been changed to read PR to avoid confusion. In addition, the previous 365-day service interval has been updated in line with regulations to a minimum of 400 days.
As part of the dynamic redesign, Danfoss ERCs have also been given a smart new look and more user-friendly features. A full white design, including the backplate, is complemented by new easy to read displays, plus a larger dial on RET models. The RET and TP ranges also have clearer detailing, while the FP720 now includes LEDs and clearer labelling of functions.
According to Gareth Ash, the new installer-approved Danfoss ERC range offers a value proposition that is not only quick and simple to fit in new and retrofit projects but also raises the bar on energy saving: “Research by the University of Salford shows that replacing a standard room thermostat with one that controls the boiler using load or weather compensation can deliver savings of 10% whenever the heating is on. So, with models that offer OpenTherm and on/off load compensation the new, easy to install Danfoss ERCs are the obvious choice for efficiency too.”
