>B< Press fittings from Conex Bänninger have been used on a large plumbing installation within a family’s new self-build house in North Berwick, Scotland.
The four-bedroom home, which includes four bathrooms, has been constructed using insulated concrete formwork (ICF) – an ‘in-situ’ concrete system of building which is wrapped with insulation material before any concrete is poured in.
TKS Plumbing Services undertook much of the domestic services element of the development and advised the use of the Conex Bänninger’s >B< Press, a copper press-fit solution. Director Lewis Knight commented: “We have used >B< Press fittings on many projects over the past three years and know that the job only has to be done once with this product and the speed of installation means that there are significant time savings.
“Hours of planning were undertaken with the client prior to the work commencing, which has taken us three and half weeks. This included completing the balanced domestic water supplies, drainage supplies, the heating supply runs and the feeds to the bathrooms. We have in the process used hundreds of >B< Press fittings, which have all crimped expertly. The house includes shower rooms in three of the bedrooms and the office.
“A significant amount of piping has been installed in the home comprising some 180 metres of 15mm, 120 metres of 22mm and 40 metres of 28mm. >B< Press was used on the first fix for the water and heating supplies and on the second fix in the plant room prior to the Air Source/Hot Water Cylinder going in.”
