Resideo is collaborating with the new Green Skills Academy, which has now opened its doors in Trafford Park, Greater Manchester. Newly launched in January, it will help provide industry training to students and installers to help build their knowledge of the latest energy efficient and low carbon technology.
The company has been involved with one of the key elements of the Green Skills Academy – a full-sized, low-energy model house. The house has been designed to show how energy efficient products work in a real-world environment. It means attendees can not only see how individual low carbon products are installed but, crucially, how they operate with other elements as part of a complete, efficient heating system.
For instance, Resideo’s Honeywell Home evohome thermostat is installed alongside a heat recovery and cooling system, to help demonstrate how to fit a full system correctly to ensure the best result.
Darren Cooke, EMEA Training and Enablement Leader, from Resideo, commented: “There is currently a great deal of focus on the opportunities to be gained in the green skills arena. This includes not only those in the plumbing and heating sector, but also in the wider construction industry too. Practical, first-hand experience is essential to building confidence and expanding these skill sets. Therefore, by collaborating with the Green Skills Academy, we can make a real difference in providing more opportunities for installers to learn about the benefits of individual low-carbon products and how they work together.
