The Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire, Edward Gillespie OBE, and Councillor Steve Jordan, Leader of Cheltenham Borough Council, were among the invited guests at a special event at Mira Showers in Cheltenham, to celebrate the company being awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for its Mira Sport Max shower.
This is the second occasion that Mira Showers has been awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise, after the Mira Flight Safe anti-slip shower tray, which is manufactured at Mira Showers’ trays and enclosures factory in Hull, scooped the award in 2017.
The latest Queen’s Award for Enterprise recognises the Mira Sport Max for its world-first design for electric showers, as it uses patented Mira Airboost technology to increase water flow by up to 30% without using any more water.
Following a welcome from Managing Director, Craig Baker, Peter Bungard, Clerk of the Lieutenancy, read a citation. The Lord-Lieutenant then presented the Queen’s Award and certificate to Mr Baker and assembled Mira associates.
Mr Baker said: “This award highlights our commitment to innovation and the hard work and level of detail we put into the research and design stages, which allows us to ensure products we bring to market are meeting the ever-changing demands from both consumers and installers.
“As a forward-thinking company, our focus on developing exclusive technology is what has made Mira the biggest contributor to the showering industry in the last 90 years.
“Mira’s Research & Development team is always working collaboratively to look for ways to optimise the showering experience. Installers are the voice of the user, and so holding regular meetings with our Installer Clubs throughout the UK gives us valuable insight to shape the design of products and bring new technology to life.”
Mira Showers representatives joined other Queen’s Award winners at a recent royal reception at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the accolade.
