JTL has announced it is one of the first organisations in the UK to receive the ‘Leaders in Safeguarding’ quality mark for its approach to its training programmes.
The Leaders in Safeguarding consultants conducted an audit of the safeguarding arrangements at JTL and approved them as meeting the standards.
Dr Dan Grant, safeguarding expert and the founder of Leaders in Safeguarding, said: “JTL has received this accolade because it has created a strong culture in which all its learners and apprentices are safe. We congratulate JTL and recognise its highly effective and robust safeguarding arrangements. JTL works very hard and is highly committed to keeping children, young people and vulnerable adults safe.”
The Leaders in Safeguarding accolade, which is valid for two years, involves approved consultants visiting organisations to assess the effectiveness of safeguarding arrangements. This involves close examination of how well organisations meet all statutory requirements and the effectiveness of their policies and practices in staff recruitment and training.
A full audit is conducted, and a detailed report is then produced. Once this has been completed, the safeguarding consultant presents an assessment and report to the Leaders in Safeguarding scrutiny and validation panel for approval. The Leaders in Safeguarding panel consists of expert professionals from health, education and social care sectors.
Julie Asher-Smith, JTL’s Human Resources Director, commented: “We’re delighted to have been awarded this accolade by the Leaders in Safeguarding. It’s fantastic to receive external validation of our continuing effort that says we do things properly here at JTL and do everything we can to ensure that the young people we work with are receiving the levels of safeguarding every day that an organisation like ours should be providing.”
