Heat pump installations in July remained strong

There were 4,805 heat pump installations recorded in July, according to statistics from MCS. The data shows that Solar PV remains the low carbon technology installed most often, with 13,666 installations in the month

Ian Rippin, CEO at MCS, said: “The latest MCS data shows that heat pumps continue to be installed in record numbers. July was the fifth month in a row to have more than 4,500 certified heat pump installations, maintaining progress towards 2024 being a record year for the technology – by a sizeable margin. In total, there have now been over 250,000 certified heat pumps installed in the UK, which is a significant milestone in the adoption of small-scale renewables.

“Battery storage is another technology that is seeing a record number of installations. There have now been more than 15,000 certified battery storage installations, with over 10,000 in 2024 alone. Often combined with solar PV, which has itself surpassed 100,000 certified installations for the year, the extraordinary rise in the number of certified battery storage installations shows that more UK homeowners are switching on to the benefits of renewable energy.”
