The date for this year’s Women Installers Together (WIT) event has ben announced as Friday 4th July.
The event has been running since 2017 and its organisers, Hattie Hasan MBE and Mica May, Directors of Stopcocks Group Limited, say it is the only by tradeswomen – for tradeswomen event in UK.
The all-day event will feature a professional speaker, roundtable discussions of issues relevant to tradeswomen, personal/professional development, shared experiences from tradeswomen, food, a raffle and lots of opportunities to meet and talk to other tradeswomen. Sponsors include Kohler/Mira, Vaillant UK, Monument Tools, Sureserve, Octopus and City Plumbing.
The venue is yet to be announced.
Founder Hattie Hasan MBE says: “It’s really brilliant this year to see the range of initiatives to encourage women and girls into skilled trades.
“Octopus completed a heat pump installation in Devon, using the first ever all-women team of engineers just last week, Touchwood Southwest are celebrating Women In Construction Week with a great video showcasing UK tradeswomen from all around the UK and Oaklands College are running a competition for women and girls on their plumbing and electrical courses.
“It’s so necessary for tradeswomen to be seen. We’re still struggling to get a higher representation of women in trades than 2%. In spite of almost a quarter of all women wanting to come into trades, our percentage continues to grow incredibly slowly. We need more role models, opportunities to show off our fantastic skills and what a satisfying career choice skilled-trades can be.”
Tickets for WIT will be released before the end of March – once the new venue is signed and sealed – and are free for all tradeswomen/tradeswomen in training and representatives of sponsors.
Tickets for all other interested parties are £60. Early Bird rates are still available for sponsors up to the end of March. For more information about WIT or Stopcocks Group Limited please go to https://stopcocks.uk
