Following its recent introduction, PHPI catches up with Martyn Bridges, Director of External Affairs at Worcester Bosch, to find out more about the company’s new floor-standing boiler.
Q. Why has Worcester Bosch recently launched a new floor-standing boiler?
We are continuously and carefully reviewing, adjusting and adding to our Greenstar range. Starting with the Greenstar 8000 back in 2019, we’ve been working our way through our range and bringing them up to speed both in terms of functionality and connectivity, but also design.
The Greenstar 8000 F becomes the first-floor standing boiler to be optimised – complete with sleek design and intuitive control panel.
We wanted to introduce a new floor-standing boiler so that we have a convenient and comfortable product on the market for households who currently have one and are looking for a simple switch.
Q. What outputs are available with the Greenstar 8000 F?
The Greenstar 8000 F is available in combi and regular variants, in 35kW or 50kW output options. This means it is a big-time boiler for busy families whether ahead of the school run or during a family weekend at home. Installed neatly in your home, the Greenstar 8000 F is a powerhouse boiler that handles the busiest of mornings with ease. Designed to meet the needs of the largest family homes, when everybody’s showering and the heating’s on full blast, this is the boiler that reliably delivers when you need it.
It also provides an additional 10% domestic hot water efficiency over its predecessor, elevating it from Band B to Band A. This is crucial to ensure efficient delivery of hot water for customers all-year round.
Q. Are there any features that particularly benefit installers?
Like many of our products, the Greenstar 8000 F has been designed with ease of installation for installers in mind. It has a pre-piping roller jig enabling an easy switch-out from our previous ranges – Greenstar CDi Highflow or FS CDi. It also includes space for a 22mm Greenstar System Filter in the combi variant – providing installers with flexibility for both installation and servicing.
The company has also introduced new made-to-match flues that are exclusive to the Greenstar 8000 F, to ensure no issues at install.
It should be noted that any predecessor boiler flues aren’t compatible with the Greenstar 8000 F – including flues for the Greenstar CDi Highflow and FS CDi Regular boiler ranges.
The boiler itself is also spacious, so key components are easily accessible for quick, simple maintenance later down the line.
Q. Does the new Greenstar 8000 F fit under a kitchen counter?
It does indeed. We’ve specifically designed the boiler to be able to fit seamlessly under a kitchen counter, and with its sleek design it won’t feel out of place in any modern kitchen.
Q. What are the options when it comes to controls?
The Greenstar 8000 F is compatible with the majority of Worcester Bosch controls, including the Bosch EasyControl and the ever-popular Comfort+ II RF.
Q. What guarantee is available on the Greenstar 8000 F?
The Greenstar 8000 F comes with a standard guarantee of seven years. If it is installed with any Greenstar System Filter, the guarantee increases to eight years. It also can come with a 10-year guarantee if installed by a Worcester Accredited Installer.
