Q&A // Top-Fix

PHPI speaks to Top-Fix to discover more about the waste that can be fitted from above.

Q. What is Top-Fix and how does it work?
Top-Fix is a worldwide patented fixing system specifically designed to make installation faster, easier, and more reliable for plumbers and installers. The key innovation lies in its one-sided tightening mechanism, which allows the waste to be fitted entirely from above the sink, basin, bath, or shower tray.

As the installer tightens the fitting, the integrated rubber seal compresses to create a watertight, secure seal without the need for messy sealants or extra parts. This eliminates the hassle of having to hold underneath whilst tightening from above, especially in tight spaces.

Q. Can Top-Fix be used across a range of wastes – or just basin wastes?
The Top-Fix technology is versatile and has been incorporated into a comprehensive range of waste products, not just basin wastes. The range includes:
– Kitchen strainer wastes for sinks
– Bathroom basin wastes
– Shower wastes
– Bath wastes

This means installers can benefit from the same quick-fit technology across multiple applications in both kitchen and bathroom installations.

Q. What are the installation advantages of Top-Fix?
Top-Fix offers several installation advantages:
– Installed entirely from one side – no guess work, full confidence that the underneath seal is aligned in place and watertight
– Quick and hassle-free installation – the wastes are supplied pre-assembled, reducing preparation time
– Reliable watertight seal
– Time-saving for installers

This efficiency translates to less time on site, fewer call-backs for leaks, and an overall easier installation experience.

Q. What elements of the installation need to be done from underneath?
None. One of the biggest advantages of Top-Fix is that everything is installed from the top. There’s no requirement to access underneath the sink, basin, bath, or shower tray, which is particularly useful in tight or awkward spaces.

Q. Are any washers or silicone required?
No additional washers or silicone are required. Every Top-Fix waste is pre-assembled with an integrated rubber sealing system. When tightened, this seal compresses to form a secure and watertight connection, removing the need for extra parts, messy sealants, or guesswork during installation.

Q. Are any installation tools needed?
Each waste in the Top-Fix range is supplied with a purpose-designed fitting tool, so you have exactly what you need to complete the installation. The only exception is the Top-Fix shower waste, which can be fitted with a standard Philips PH3 screwdriver bit.

Q. Will Top-Fix work with older sinks and showers?
Yes. The Top-Fix system is designed to be compatible with products that meet British Standards, meaning it will work with the vast majority of sinks, basins, baths, and shower trays, including older models that conform to these dimensions.

Q. Is the range available in a selection of finishes to match existing bathroom styles?
Absolutely. The Top-Fix range is available in a variety of high-quality finishes to suit modern and traditional bathroom designs alike:
– Chrome – classic, timeless look
– Brushed Brass – suited to contemporary or luxury interiors
– Matt Black – for bold, modern bathroom styles
