Flamco launches RedProtect and Pro Range

At an event held at the Museum of Brands in London, Flamco launched two new products to its range of components for use in HVAC systems. Kelly Newstead reports.

Surrounded by a backdrop of brands through the ages, Flamco presented two of its latest innovations which focus on environmental issues and longevity of lifecycle. With the first product being dubbed as ‘an industry first’, it is part of the company’s efforts to make water treatment common place. Flamco stated: “Recirculating heating water systems can suffer from a build-up of solids or sludge as a result of both system corrosion and scale formation which, if left in the system, can seriously affect the performance, energy efficiency and ultimately the integrity of the system.”

RedProtect

This is where RedProtect comes in. It’s a package product which includes a filter, a cleaner, containing a basket of soluble tablet chemicals, as well as an inhibitor.

The tablets treat the water by dissolving into the system which then reduces a build-up of debris, corrosion and limescale and ensures clean water runs through instead. While Flamco is aware that water treatment products are nothing new, it states it is in fact the tablet form which provides a fresh approach to the way installers treat the systems.

It is the first chemical tablet of its kind and has an environmental ethos at its core. It is reported that the tablet packaging is 100% recyclable, has no spilling or leakage (due to its tablet form) and reduces the amount of energy consumed in the pump. It also boasts a neutral pH which is effective on both hot and cold water and can clean 100 litres of system water through four tablets.

John Lynch, Sales Manager – Domestic at Flamco, commented: “We’re proud to be able to launch a new water treatment system that offers a range of genuine benefits over the existing options that installers and specifiers have been using to date. From the reduced energy consumption of the circulating pump, to the simplicity of the system, the cleanliness, the reduced weight and the significant environmental benefits, RedProtect is a winner from every angle. It’s easier and lighter to transport without spilling risks and will be a popular option in installers vans, contributing to so many companies own environmental programmes.”

Pro Range

Flamco also used the event to launch its new Pro Range of system conditioning equipment for commercial heating and cooling systems, which offers pressure maintenance, vacuum degassing and chemical water treatment options across a range of products.

Flamco says the driving force for this equipment was the increasing need for preventative, predictive maintenance alerts, to reduce emergency call out situations and to help reduce lifecycle costs.

The new range includes the Pro PDm which offers pre-commissioned pressurisation; the Pro PDS which offers pressurisation with dosing, mixed with top up demand; the Pro PDG which offers pressurisation with vacuum degassing; the Pro PDD, also known as the ‘Caretaker’, which offers combined pressurisation, dosing and degassing; the Pro Vacumat Eco, which is said to represent the evolution of intelligent, adaptive vacuum degassing; and the Pro Vacumat Eco with Pro PDG, which offers the evolution of system conditioning to the market place.

It is hoped all of the system conditioning solutions will help towards reducing carbon footprint, but also the potential for corrosion and lifecycle costs. By creating products which can do multiple things at once it also reduces the installation space needed, creating more freedom for installers.

UK Sales Director – Commercial, Sean Blandford, explained: “This new range is an exciting addition to the Flamco contribution to the commercial heating and cooling sector. For the first time, the commercial sector has the option of a range of state of the art equipment that will specifically meet the requirements of every new project. From individual units that meet a specific issue, to the ‘Caretaker’, which can address all the issues relating to commercial heating and cooling for the building owner or consultant, tasked with ensuring the most cost effective and advanced solution for their needs.”
