Seminar programme brings latest industry news to technicians

Throughout the summer, OFTEC will be on the road across the UK and Ireland holding a series of free local seminar events for registered technicians.

During the informal evening events,  technicians can meet their local regional inspector and members of OFTEC’s technical team who will provide updates on a range of topics, including the new Energy-related Products Directive (ErPD), which is set to have a major impact on the heating industry, and recent changes to BSI 5410-1 2014.

Attendees will be welcome to ask questions and discuss any topics relevant to the heating industry, including OFTEC’s new registrations for renewable technologies. Attendance will count towards technicians’ CPD and free OFTEC marketing materials will be available. A small number of manufacturers will also be exhibiting at each event.

Malcolm Farrow of OFTEC said: “OFTEC works hard to support its technicians and a key part of this is to ensure they are kept up to date with the latest industry news and regulations. Both the introduction of the ErPD in September and changes to the BS 5410-1 from December are significant developments which installers will need to understand and comply with. These events will help them to do that.

“Visiting technicians on their home ground also means we can continue to listen to their needs and strengthen and expand our service offering to accurately reflect these.”

Free to attend and with refreshments provided, most events will run from 4pm to 8pm. Confirmed locations and dates include:

Norwich, Norfolk – 30th April 2015

Johnstone, Scotland – 7th May 2015

Portsmouth, Hampshire – 12th May 2015

Burgess Hill, West Sussex – 13th May

Abingdon, Oxfordshire – 18th June

Bangor, Wales – 25th June

Wrexham, Wales – 16th July

York, Yorkshire – 10th September

Further events are planned for England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, with details becoming available on OFTEC’s website events page.
