Mitsubishi Electric receives Red Dot Award

Mitsubishi Electric’s Ultra Quiet Ecodan PUHZ-AA air source heat pump range has been presented with the international Red Dot Award for Product Design.

The Ecodan units have been designed to provide homes with reliable, trouble free renewable heating and hot water in a compact unit.

The Red Dot Award is judged by an international jury of nearly 40 experts, who said that: “the design of this air-to-water outdoor unit has been thought out to the last detail. Its unobtrusive appearance easily blends into different types of buildings.”

The new design is not just about aesthetics however, as the unit has been manufactured to increase energy efficiency and decrease noise.

Heat pump noise levels are expected to become increasingly important as the country shifts from traditional gas and oil heating towards low carbon, renewable heating.

Ultra Quiet Ecodan has been designed specifically for the UK market and is said to meet Permitted Development to provide flexibility of where the air source heat pump can be installed.

The units are available in 8.5kW and 11.2kW sizes with sound levels that are three times quieter than previous models.

Sharon Oliver, Marketing Manager at Mitsubishi Electric, said: “We are delighted that our Ultra Quiet Ecodan units have been recognised for a Red Dot Award for product design. These awards highlight the heart of Mitsubishi Electric’s product development process where design and functionality are married to excellent quality products.”
