1950s Heatrae Sadia cylinder discovered

A vintage 1950s Heatrae Sadia direct water cylinder has been discovered, in perfect working condition, at a property in the New Forest, Hampshire.

Featuring a retro cream and pale blue colour scheme, the cylinder had been working for 60 years without trouble before the owners decided to upgrade to an updated, more environmentally friendly, model.

Despite its age, the cylinder was said to be in impeccable condition, offering a glimpse into the technology which was used by British households in a world before colour TV and the vacuum cleaner.

Rather than dispose of the cylinder, Anita Rowland of Studio 64 Interiors, who made the discovery, decided to return it to Heatrae Sadia so it could be placed on display.

Anita commented: “I would have felt terrible sending it to scrap. It was so sweet and in immaculate order.”

Steve Rickards, Commercial Director at Heatrae Sadia, added: “Heatrae Sadia has become renowned for its quality, reliable water cylinders, and we were delighted to hear that this product was, until very recently, still running perfectly after 60 years of service.

“This is exactly what we strive for in our products and something we’re very proud of. We look forward to receiving the cylinder and placing it on display at our HQ as a demonstration of our commitment to quality across our range of products.

“Megaflo cylinders are built with care in our UK based factory using the very best materials to ensure that they offer many years of reliable operation. In fact, we back this up by offering a lifetime warranty on all new Megaflo cylinders.”
